DANCE EVENTS AND COMPETITIONS – GOAL R 100 000

R0 of R100,000 raised

Donovan Forbes Dance Academy previously known as Donovan Forbes School of Dance was born in January 2008 with the passion and enthusiasm of a life-long dream and goal to start a dance academy with a difference and uphold our core business with pride and respect.

“DONOVAN FORBES DANCE ACADEMY AIMS TO PROVIDE UNIFIED, NON RACIAL, NON SEXUAL, INCLUSIVE, FUN & QUALITY DANCE FORMS TO BOTH SERIOUS AND RECREATION-MINDED INDIVIDUALS. OUR GOAL IS TO PROMOTE DANCE FUNDAMENTALS FOR ALL AGES & CREED BY FOCUSING ON OUR PRIMARY GOAL. WE WILL PROVIDE A DANCE SERVICE TO ALL LOCAL YOUTH ACROSS ALL AREAS THAT WILL IN TURN GENERATE A POSITIVE DECLINE IN CRIME AND TEACH OUR YOUTH SELF-RESPECT AND RESPECT FOR ALL”

We will be launching the first ever Western Cape Winter Ball Open Challenge competition on Saturday 11 August 2018 in Cape Town, South Africa and many more dance events for the rest of the year.  However, our flamboyant approach has placed us under enormous financial pressure as the Dance Academy is a non-profit venture and activity. We have limited financial resources, which is currently been injected by the dancers’ minimal club fees and my own pocket.

We will be having a few guest performances, 5 judges from across the country and we would like to show the athletes that they are appreciated and taken care of in all aspects of the dance form and to demonstrate many thanks for entering into the competition and in return we will be able to advertise your brand/name throughout the event and if possible set up your branding for display.

The competition caters for all ages from 5-12 years old Juveniles, Juniors 13- 16 years old, Youth 17-21years old, Adult 21-30years old, Seniors 31-65years old and Professionals, a total of +- 400 couples (+- 800 athletes) at minimum.

As I am doing this venture on my own, I would like to demonstrate to the dance fraternity and all major stakeholders and organizations, that its priorities should be changing and that we need to put the dancers first and I make no apology for that. The dancers deserve an excellent and wonderful Ballroom to dance in, with world class music and lighting and fantastic spectators and visitors, providing quality and excellent standards. This can and should be an annual event which becomes bigger and better each year. Events of this calibre takes place in other provinces such as North West: Sun City (Rumba in the Jungle), Gauteng: Emperors Palace (Dancing Under The African Skies) to mention a few and never had we seen such a major event take place in the Western Cape. I approach this event from the perspective of the dancers and a competition aspect, which will never change.

We hereby humbly call on you to kindly consider assisting us with additional support/donation to enhance the success of our first ever competition.

We will sincerely appreciate your support/donation to ensure a memorable competition.

Looking forward to your positive response.

 Yours in upliftment through dance.
